forever earth

Forever Resorts is a community-based organization with properties throughout the United States. We have an extensive outreach program that motivates our employees and informs our stakeholders.

Forever Earth

Forever Earth is a 70-foot Floating Environmental Laboratory built by Forever Resorts and berthed at Callville Bay Marina in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Nevada. The vessel is a Public/Private Partnership with Outside Las Vegas Foundation, Forever Resorts, Lake Mead National Recreation Area and University of Nevada Las Vegas. It was designed to support and encourage needed environmental monitoring and study at Lake Mead with the goal of the improvement and protection of environmental conditions and enhance understanding and learning by school groups, researchers, and the public. Forever Earth serve four principal purposes:

Education - the Forever Earth boat has the potential to provide an excellent opportunity for learning by students of all ages. Educational programs aboard Forever Earth complement traditional classroom studies by giving students real world learning experiences. The laboratory and scientific equipment allow for hands on student involvement. The project includes the development of curriculum packages that are directly tied to school curriculum and based upon national, state and local standards for science, math, technology and social studies (among other disciplines).

Science and Environmental Studies -Used to help facilitate on-going and future research efforts at Lake Mead National Recreation Area that lead both to a better understanding of environmental processes and to improvements in the health of the ecosystem. This research includes cultural resource studies and surveys around the lake.

Water-Quality Monitoring - the Forever Earth boat is available for water quality monitoring and associated research. Such studies will tie into the overall regional water-quality monitoring strategies associated with the Lake Mead Water Quality Forum, addressing issues like urban.

Command Post - the Forever Earth boat may be utilized as a command center for specialized activities such as major search and rescue operations, water safety demonstrations, visitor surveys and special events.

TAKE PRIDE IN AMERICA CHARTER PARTNER

Forever Resorts is one of 100 charter partners in Take Pride in America. Take Pride in America is a national partnership that recruits, supports and recognizes volunteers who work to improve the special legacy all Americans share - our public lands and waters. It involves federa1, state and local governments; conservation youth and recreation groups; and top national corporations and organizations.

The cornerstone of the program is the belief that you have to engage individuals to take responsibility for improving their community environment - be it parks, forests, grasslands, reservoirs, wildlife refuges, cultural and historic sites, local playgrounds, or other recreation areas. Through environmental clean up programs and Forever Earth Day events held at Forever Resorts locations throughout the United States the partnership reinforces our environmental programs.

FOREVER EARTH DAY CELEBRATED

Forever Earth Day is celebrated with clean ups and events held at numerous Forever Resorts operations across the United States. Highlights of Forever Earth Day events have included:

Callville Bay Marina, Lake Mead, Nevada - Lake Mead Clean Up Volunteers are shuttled out to designated coves from Callville Bay Marina aboard luxury Forever Houseboats and deck boats for organized beach clean ups around the lake. After the lake shore clean up a complimentary barbeque lunch for all the volunteers, hosted by Forever Resorts and local media partners. Other sponsors of the Forever Earth events have been Sinclair Oil and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency National Environmental Performance Track.

Donations collected from the Forever Earth Day event went to benefit the Outside Las Vegas Foundation. In addition to a day of helping to keep Lake Mead clean, each of the volunteers were entered to win one of several prizes generously donated by KSNE, KWNR, and Forever Resorts including Black Canyon River Adventure raft trips, a powerboat rental from Callville Bay Marina and the grand prize, a weekend Forever Houseboat vacation on Lake Mead was won by Maria Avila of Henderson, Nevada.

Rocky Mountain Park Holiday Inn - Forever Earth Day was celebrated as a joint effort with Estes Park's Intermediate School Earth Day celebration. Forever Resorts Team members participated by handing out canvas tote bags and educational bookmarks to the students of Estes Park's 2nd, 3rd, & 4th grade classes.

Craig Belshe, Estes Park Intermediate School principal commented on the Forever Earth Day event: "We are excited about our partnership for our Earth Day celebration with the Holiday Inn of Estes Park and Forever Resorts. Most of the credit for our school's celebration goes to our custodian, Mr. Tim McDonald and our Art Instructor, Ms. Nicole Haskins. We are working to foster the development of people who will be environmentally conscious for our future."

Tim McDonald was in charge of the event who prepared a hillside adjacent to the school for sewing of wildflower seeds and bulbs. Each child got to grab a handful of seeds and spread them along the hillside near the school. Nearly 300 tote bags were imprinted with the Estes Park Holiday Inn logo and Earth Day Every Day and were distributed to the students. A short presentation was given by the Forever Team to show the children how the canvas bags can be re-used to prevent waste and litter at home. Educational bookmarks were also given to the students and their teachers to commemorate Forever Earth Day. The kids enjoyed it, but the Forever Team enjoyed it more and is looking forward to making this an annual event.
